Well, the repair tech finally was able to duplicate the problem, but now the shifting assembly part is on nationwide backorder with no ETA for replacement. So we get to fiddle with the shifter button while waiting in parking lots for the indeterminable future. While poking around the vehicle, the repair tech also found a problem with the cooling fan and ordered that part as well. This repair saga is heading further and further in the wrong direction.

Be grateful yours is under warranty. Mine is not. Looking into class action suit.

So I figured out how to fix it, and it ended up being stupid easy. I uploaded a quick video showing the basics of how to permanently (cross your fingers) fix it in under 5 minutes with no tools needed. I actually rented the ACDelco service manual for 3 days in anticipation of this being a huge ordeal, but it was completely unnecessary for this fix. All you need is a needle nose pliers, tweezers, or a metal probe to bend the switch as seen in the video.

My video shows it with the little protective cover already off, since I put everything back together and forgot to put it back on. I decided to film a quick video while replacing that little cover, and it took a total of 3 minutes including pausing the camera to maneuver into place. After the fix, I sat there and shifted back and forth at least 50 or 60 times, and it never came back. I could never have done more than 8 or 10 shifts before without the error popping up. My wife is driving it around town right now running errands, and it's completely fine.

My video showing the disassembly and how to get to the switch:

Another video giving a better description of the malfunctioning switch:

Good luck!

Dealer acknowledged the problem (no pushback that it is intermittent - was prepared with photos on phone - but not necessary). They ordered a new shifter assembly
part number 60006582 - a special order and no commitment on delivery. Googled the part number and while MSRP is $140 most places are selling in the sub $100 range.
There are You Tube videos on DIY repair. Mine is still under warranty. Guess they will contact me when it comes in and replace the unit with the same production unit and we
will see how long that lasts. Will update.

Well this explains why I haven't been contacted about the part. This is just getting frustrating when it takes you 5-10 minutes to just get out of your car some days. Can't trade it in on anything with interest rates the way they are, so kinda stuck.

Gm knows about this issue dating back 10 years with no fix. Gm sucks.

Wow anyone else ? Please reply anyone sees this . If this doesn’t get fixed , how can we fight this ? This would be the second attempt to get this fixed as soon as my part comes in . No holding my breath issue is resolved .
My daughter has a ‘22 trailblazer and this issue has just started. At 44,xxx miles I don’t think it will be covered under warranty, but if this is a common issue, GM should definitely issue a recall. It’s very frustrating to say the least. We have an appointment scheduled for next week to have it looked at.

Sorry to hear that. Mine started to happen 60 miles under warranty but didn't do it at the dealer. They documented it and said they will work with me. Gm has had this issue on other cars going back almost 10 years. A class action suit was settled 2 years ago. Again, easier to pay out than do a recall. 9 times out of 10, when this happens to me, I move the little lever on the shifter when in park. I see a quick application software message and then it's OK. I never see the shift to park message when I have something in the backseat. I see check the back seat message put never shift to park. I don't know what to think. Keep us posted. I'm just going to live with my issue for another year before I dump this car.

All sorts of fun little issues with these things, huh. Looks like I might be happy I talked myself into the 10yr Major Guard after all. (I'll never hit the 100k before then. I average ~7k/year, worst case.)

I called GM about this they saying the same thing the dealer is saying. They only can diagnose the problem when the messenge "shift to park" Is showing on dash when I Bring it in. Already had transmission replaced at 31,000 miles another issue

Last week dealer “supposedly “ fixed it . No issues until today ! It just came back on ! Anyone else had this problem ? Only know me and the person that created this post ?
This has happened on my 22 Trailblazer for about 4 months now. Went from loving the car to being totally frustrated by it. It’s completely random too. It will happen for a week straight EVERY TIME I shut the vehicle off and then not at all for a month. But it’s absolutely miserable when it’s happening. Dealer has been NO HELP AT ALL.

I have 22 Trailblazer at about 39500 miles mine started with the shift to park on the dashboard. Anyone else have a frozen back brake? My 22 Trailblazer has made a noise from the time I got it like a rock or something was stuck in the tire like it was scraping the brake pad. Last time I had serve done they wanted me to pay $45 to have my brakes cleaned ( as I told them it wasn’t that ). I looked at my rotors the other day and sure enough one of my back rotor’s have grooves in it, the other 3 are fine. Is this a lemon 🍋 car because I’m really starting to feel like it.

Have a 21 trailblazer rs, with 43k miles, bought it in 22 when it had almost 30k miles on it. No previous knowledge if this car has had the issue before or not. shift to park started on august 11, took it in couple days later. Dealership was able to diagnose that there was a malfunctioning part of the floor shifter. Part has been ordered. Didnt have an issue with the message for about a week after i took it to the dealership but started again. Was able to wiggle/jiggle it in order for it to actually register that it was in park. Sometimes it does it once and we're good, other times it can take half a dozen times to get it to register. Still no clue when i'll get the part, especially now since GM is on strike. I can't begin to explain how over this i am, i just want my car back
