I replaced what I believe was the solenoid value a couple months but it did not fix my issue. Almost has to be the pump itself. My wife got a different job 5 minutes from home so I kind of gave up messing with it for the meantime. The only recall ours has is for the recycled soda bottle factory jack

Does anyone know if the GM purge pumps are made in China? Are they any better than the Chinese ones you can buy off Ebay? I just bought a new one for under $40 because Chevy can't supply their dealerships with the new pumps. We've been waiting a month now for my wife's, so I'm going to fix it myself tomorrow. I'm betting that there are only 1 or 2 manufacturers and one isn't any better than the other, all coming from Chino!

Approximately what does it cost to fix if no longer under warranty?
It is covered under warranty for 15 years, 150K miles as it's a common failure. I believe GM even issued a recall on them. Problem is finding any dealership that has them in stock for replacement. My local dealership has 5 TB's waiting for pumps that they have no idea when they're gonna be available.

I bought a purge pump (made in China) off Ebay hoping it'd solve my problem and so my wife had the remote start feature working again since it's winter here, -40 f this a.m.! Anyway, the part failed to solve the problem & keep the engine light off. My mechanic buddy got his hands on a Genuine GM pump and it fixed it! The box the GM pump came in said "Country of Origin USA" so that's great to know! The original pump was made in Korea, so my advice is stay away from the Asian-made one's if you replace one outside of the dealership. I'm in the process of submitting an invoice to GM for re-imbursement, so hopefully they'll pay the bill. I only had to pay cost for it at $82, China made ones are about 1/2 that, but... On another note, I wanted to share that we hooked up the scanner after replacing the pump and incredibly, those things spin at over 42k RPM'S! Scanner said 43k was ideal rpm. It's no wonder these things fail, as all internals are plastic & rubber, spinning that fast. I can change a purge pump now in about 5-7 minutes, anyhow!

Thanks for sharing your experience! It would be very helpful for other owners dealing with the same problem if you could post some part numbers for the Korean vs American made purge pump.

Years ago my wife had
I donno about you but to me I'd expect more out of a new $30k vehicle I mean come on a plastic oil pan really.... that's one fallen stick away from being catastrophic. I could care less about the interior but i actually love the interior its great they hit the nail on the head. I was more less talking about the mechanical parts like those cheap hoses that run all over the place with the weird clips on them and the amount of plastic parts where they really should be made out of metal. But I guess I'm just used to bullet proof toyotas. I know apples to oranges but Ive put almost 200k miles on my tacoma since new and have yet to see any check engine lights. Only parts I've replaced are front wheel bearings once at 160k, front brakes twice and typical 5-6k oil changes, pretty good for being lifted on 33's as well
Years ago my wife had an Olds Achieva, mid to late 90s model. Plastic oil pan in it as well.

The Korean pumps are the OEM, and the GM ones should all be the updated pn's, as they're listed that way in their systems, they just aren't very available. I'm not 100% sure that all of the updated GM ones are USA replacements or not though.

mine just failed on my '21 just at 29k miles (and just 2 weeks outside of the 3 year warranty). I havent had it fixed yet, however the dealer did confirm that the part has a conditional warranty on it and will be covered up to 150k miles.
I'm sure you know that it's 3 years from the date you take delivery. Of course, that's not an issue in this case, just finding a dealership with a replacement pump that is!

Yeah I was thinking the pump took a sh*t. Might try taking the line off and see if it's pushing any pressure tomorrow. Plug and wires look clean, fuse looked good but threw a new one in anyhow. Traced the air line the whole way back to the fuel tank and didn't find any noticeable holes or tares since the wife likes to drive over stuff, knew I should've pushed for the activ model with skid plates lol
Hello Levihummel, About 2-months ago I received a letter from Chevy saying if the engine light comes on it may be the evap purge pump. Take it to a GM certified technician and get it checked. if it is the pump, it will be replaced at no cost to you. The GM certified tech has to do the work. My light came on this past Saturday, Advance auto code showed P1467, I took it to the dealership today, it is the evap purge pump. The service guy did not make the repair appointment because he does not have the part in stock, he ordered the part, but does not know when it will be in stock. I bought the trail blazer RS new in 2021 it is reliable and has 97K miles mostly highway and it runs like a top. No other service has been done on it, only the normal wear and tear. I grew up having Chrysler, Mercury, and later Ford vehicles, I married a chevy man, and every chevy we bought was very good, and reliable. 2-Blazers, 2-Trail Blazers, (2001, & 2021) an Outlook, and 2-Silverados. Good luck.

You are buying a 30k'ish vehicle. Are we expecting flush soft interior parts every square inch???? Ganna have to bump up another 25K or more in a vehicle to get that.
Why should we have to pay more? $35k is just enough for a vehicle to just get you to work and home. If you want to haul stuff then spend more money but for an every day drive that sounds stupid!!!

Unfortunately, that's the way of the world. I guess there are cheaper vehicles out there, the Trax is but it's just a fwd.
