Between the RS and Activ trims AWD, is there any difference in ground clearance that would make one Trailblazer better than the other when exploring on and light off-road? I know the Activ is more marketed adventure but is there really a difference if they are both AWD and same ground clearance?

They have the same ground clearance, but the Activ has better approach and departure angles due to the front and rear bumper design plus it has a metal underbody shield (skid plate) where the RS and other trims only have a plastic shield. The Activ also has off road tuned shocks for a softer ride while the RS has stiffer shocks for handling.

The funny thing is, in the Driving Sports TV review of the Activ Ryan Douthit said the suspension was too stiff for off-roading.
Never driven an Activ, but I've heard the same. I know it would drastically increase price, but if GM added something like the DSSV shocks that are on the ZR2 to the Trailblazer, it would just float over bumps on dirt roads. My ZR2 rides like a Cadillac on road and off road the shocks still do an amazing job.

I believe the RS has 18” tires, bigger that the ACTIV. They may have the same clearance advertised as 7”.
