So I used the back of my Trailblazer for the first time and found this in one of the storage nooks on the sides. What the heck is this for?
This is a tow hook, which screws into the frame behind the back bumper, under a small access panel. In case your vehicle gets stuck, and needs to be pulled from behind.

There is also an access panel on the front grill of the car. There’s a thread where someone lost the panel. Here’s a link to the thread with pics of what it looks like without the access panel.
Missing panel thread

so this has been answered but take my advice. DO NOT LET ANY TOW COMPANY USE THIS TO PULL YOUR TRAILBLAZER UP A RAMP! not a TrailBlazer but it snapped sending my car from a parking lot into oncoming traffic of a major street!

The tow hook is the safest option for pulling your Trailblazer out of a ditch or up a trailer. You definitely don't want the towing company using chains and hooks that can damage the suspension or body/frame.

What is #4 strap used for found in the jack kit.
On page 300-301 in the owners manual it says the strap is used to secure the flat tire while the spare is being used. I guess the screw hold down doesn't fit the full size wheels?
