So I was at the dealership to get service done yesterday on my 21 trailblazer when I mentioned that my brakes are squeaking again after they said they'd fix it last time (there was a gm bulletin). My service advisor said that it was actually just a band aid and that it is a "known issue" and a fix is being investigated. I tried contacting Chevrolet and they said it isnt even a known issue, maybe I should try to actually contact GM instead. Is anyone else experiencing squeaky brakes when you put it in drive and it is just so loud and annoying?

I experience the squeaking in my '21. Mostly when backing up. I've read all of the posts on here where people have complained about the same issue and had little to no success with the dealer. As it clearly isn't an issue specific to my vehicle, I've just taken to ignoring it. With how many people have posted about complaining to their dealer, I doubt one more report will do any good so I'm playing the waiting game.

Until GM comes up with a "real" fix the only option is to swap out the factory metallic pads for some ceramic pads. Rock Auto sells the ceramic pads at a good price.

too many customers believe their service is the final word on a problem. Far from it. Used to be mechanics would work in a shop quite a whileand work their way up to advisor. Now many (not all) advisors have VERY little service background. They literally check you in and out, make appointments, write down your problems, etc. You got an advisor who gave you wrong information ("known issue with fix in the works). Simply ask to see the service department manager. Direct his attention to this forum too about how many have this problem. Still no satisfaction see the dealership business manager (some call general manager). Still no satisfaction call this number, 1-800-222-1020 It is the contact number for Chevrolet (you have a chevrolet problem, not a gm problem). A phone recording will ask you to state your reason for call (say something like service department problem, or service problem not fixed). It will forward you to corporate Service Advisor to talk to and explain your problem.

None of GM dealer folks are coming here to be told they are wrong. ha ha ha. Mine were squeaking a bit of miles ago but I don't hear it anymore.

I am a Chinese car owner. Our Chinese version of the car also has this common problem. When the left front wheel is cold started, when the brake is pressed, it will squeak. After running for a while, it will be normal. We have more than 200 cars in a car club, and basically all have this problem. Went to the aftermarket and the aftermarket said the wheels need to be removed and the brake pads polished. Everyone thought it was troublesome, so they didn't deal with it. There are also top models. Occasionally, the sound of the whole car is silent after starting. After 2 years, Chevrolet still can't solve it. They just delay the time. It is very difficult to defend human rights in China. I don't know English, it's translated by Google, I wonder if everyone can understand my consciousness?

Install the ceramic pads I reference in another thread. Thousands of miles after I’ve swapped them and still no noise
Appears to be the only "real" solution to the problem.
