Transmission troubles

2021 Activ FWD. 13,500 miles.
I started hearing a sound like a bad wheel bearing. No vibrations. Dealership checked it out and said sound was coming from transmission.
TB runs fine just makes the noise.
I was told that they don’t work on CVT transmissions and it will be replaced.
Waiting for a call to take it back for work.

I drive for a living commuting from house to house, hospital to hospital seeing ppl, from one county from another! 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️
The CVT is and has been a big problem for years.
Consist variable transmission are good for 60k you'll be replacing it. Consist wear parts inside. There's a belt or chain that has about 60k life. If that.
I would like to agree with you. And maybe GM is only good for 60k, but I had a Nissan Altima with the CVT and ran it up to 210k miles before selling it to a friend, who is still driving it. The problem with the CVT, is people take them to a non dealership garage and they just throw any old CVT fluid in them. Highly recommend taking any CVT vehicle to it's assigned dealership. Thanks y'all.

I have a friend that works at a Nissan dealership as a repair tech and they replace multiple CVT's every week with an endless backlog of them to do. Said they sold 13 of the newest model year SUVs with CVT's and all 13 had to come back to get them replaced.

Nissan is know to have the worst CVT on the market, so not surprised there.

I am going to buy a TB RS in the next week and made sure I would NOT get a CVT. Having been in the transmission industry for many years. I can tell you the CVT has NEVER been a great idea. Women LOVE them and they are cheaper to build now is why they keep coming. They are flat out disposable. The last few I worked on you could not even get parts for just units. CVT has also had more Class action law suits then even the A604! I would NEVER knowingly buy a car with one. Once it is dead the car is seriously worth NOTHING. Ask any old Saturn Vue owner ;)

That's why I went with the AWD. Only way to get the 9sp transmission.

I wish I had known about this before I bought mine. I had never heard of a CVT before my purchase

Some manufacturers have found ways to make them last longer, CVTs have been picking up more and more since 2013 and on . More research was being done aswell. Bug fixes and stuff. Some manufacturers found what kills them .
for EXE Toyotas CVTs actually have an official first gear before the CVT kicks in. To prolong belt life and the whole CVT system aswell.
The CVT wears down a lot from take off .
So do regular or more frequent transmission fluid changes to at least prolong the life of it . And slower take offs from start .
I’m general tho, yeah CVTs might save you some MPG but those savings are lost when you have to buy a new CVT once warranty fails . And it will ALWAYS fail as soon as warranty is up lol….

Not to mention Nissan turned theirs into a ten speed. same trans just different programing. I noticed when I drove a CVT 2023 TB Saturday they assign 7 gears on the shifter and at WOT they have it act like it shifts
