I had a big nail in the sidewall of one of my tires. The shop said it couldn’t be repaired and I’d need a new tire.

Nowhere in town had the hankooks in stock, so I bought one online to match. However I accidentally bought the hankook kinergy “PT” instead of the “GT” that came stock on my ‘22 RS…

My question is, is it really a big deal if the tire isn’t ~exactly matching? Will it affect my car negatively in any way?

To receive maximum safety and performance tires generally should not be mixed on any vehicle. It is preferable to keep every tire on a vehicle identical in size, brand, model, rating, etc. compare: Diameter, Width, Rim Range, V Tread Depth, Load Range, Max Load, Max PSI,
and Weight.

They’re the same size and brand, just a slightly different model, like the PTs are a step below the GTs
I understand that that is the ideal situation- I’m just curious as to how much of a difference it will actually make, as ideally I don’t want to wait to return the first tire and get another one

It's never ideal to run a mismatch. If you have AWD, however, it's more critical. Mismatched tires (even based on wear) can cause an AWD system to encounter major problems.

Is the tread pattern different? Even slight variations in the rubber compound might cause different responses in snow or rain. I’m not an expert here but I would not put the PT on.
