Subwoofer

So I recently got a flat tire and needed to use the spare in the back. To my surprise I found a factory installed sub. I thought the bass was rather lackluster for there to be an independent sub so I left the cove and spare off and cranked the radio. And as I thought it doesn't actually work oddly enough. Does anyone know any hot fixes for this?

If you don't have the Bose premium system then the subwoofer is only used for ANC (active noise cancelation), but if you do have the Bose system then it does work as a subwoofer and used for ANC. For reference all AWD models have ANC and the subwoofer.
