Reduced Engine Pwer

Hello,
I have a 2021 Chevy trailblazer. I have around 29,000 miles on my car. Recently I have had the Reduced Engine Power light along with the check engine light come across the dash. This has also limited my speed to 35 mph. I have had my car into 2 different Chevy dealerships and both are saying that the car is not throwing or storing any codes for them to know what is wrong with it. However the light will go off and they come back on in a matter of weeks. The dealerships have contacted GM for help with the matter but seem to be at loss what to do. I am at loss at what to do next. I was wondering if anyone else has ideas on what to do next.

Oh dang! I’m on week 4 and it doesn’t look good for me as well. Parts are on back order and they started a nationwide search for it, but so far we don’t have the parts, ETA, or anything. I just open a case with GM and I’m waiting for a call. Also, I’m opening a Lemon Law claim. This is a nightmare!

yes I did the same....
Going on 3rd week parked at the dealership with parts expected on 08/01. Got a call yesterday that parts at minimum will be shipped on 08/17. So basically 6 weeks with no vehicle counting the other 2x it was in the dealership to begin with.
This ain’t right.
Latest update from GM and the dealer. Parts were supposed to be at the factory on 08.18.2022 and arrive at dealership on 08.25.2022. Service manager texted me this morning and GM is now saying mid-September is the absolute earliest that they will get parts. This is the 5th time they have changed the arrival date of parts so I presume mid-September means mid-October. I have applied for a buyback from GM but they say the car has to be fixed before they will consider a buyback. They have had my car in the dealership since July 18th and by the time it's fixed it will be close to 60 days. My suggestion, and as much as I loved my Trailblazer, get rid of it now before you run into the same issue. My lawyer is now involved filing a Lemon Law claim. Will keep you posted on how it turns out......so frustrating......

Omg that’s a nightmare. Thanks for the updates! I still don’t have an ETA on the parts for my car and I got a call from the GM case manager saying that they’re considering a repurchase, but still evaluating my case. This is week 7 of my car at the dealership. I’m also filling a Lemon Law claim and I totally agree with you. I used to love the car but now I just want to get rid of it as soon as possible!

I also have a 2021 TB and have been having this problem for months! They told me it shows no codes so they can’t fix it and I argued that it’s a brand new car and that my warranty must be for nothing then. The tech said “bring it back when it happens again” and I told him the wait is months out and he said “yea we are busy” IMAGINE THE FRUSTRATION. I usually drive around with my baby so I threatened to sue if anything happened due to the problem I went to them to fix!! But anywayssss, you’re saying it ended up being the turbo part??
A fellow Missourian here too. I have two Trailblazers, 2021 & 2022. The 2021 showed reduced power several times, first time in July of 2021 while on a road trip to west. It seems to come on several times when going uphills at fast highway speeds. Took it to Chevy dealer where I work at but it was a new problem back then, GM didnt know what to do. Replaced coolant fan assembly and wastegate sensor. It was fine for a year until we drove it to California, it came on again. So my son has it and lives in Fremont, CA. He said it comes on and disappears. He has 35,600 miles now.

My 2022 TB does not have this problem. 18k miles. Both with 1.3L.

My service manager thinks it’s the defective turbo. Want to hear more from you guys before I have him to call Fremont Chevrolet for an appt.

Hi, I too have a 2021 Chevy Trailblazer and mine had 12,011 miles on it when Reduced Engine Power Message came on and the Engine Icon lit as I was going to town. I came directly home and next morning called the Garage and they looked at it yesterday afternoon. The Mechanic checked it out and said GM said to Reprogram it. It is still under warranty and the Mechanic told me that on the 2022's this problem has been fixed so it doesn't happen. He said the Computer is getting a false message to reduce engine power and they have now put a shield around something in the 2022's to keep it from getting this false message. Makes me wonder - will I get this message in the future when it is out of warranty and then I will have to pay to have it reprogrammed.

My 2021 TB is having the same problem & it only has a little over 12,000 miles on it. Yesterday the Mechanic checked it out and said that GM told him to Reprogram it as it is still under Warranty. He said the 2022's don't have this problem because they have a shield around something that is giving the false message to the computer. Makes one wonder how many times the 2021 is going to get this False Message because it doesn't have this shield.
Were your cars drivable this just happened to me and they are closed and the next appointment isn’t until Friday

My TB was drivable but does not much available power. It really struggled to hold it's speed going uphills.
Could this have something to do with the manual buttons on the shifter? doesnt that reduce power like if you are going downhill?

That's for selecting a gear "range" which can be useful for going up or down hills or towing, but it doesn't reduce power.

Mine was. I came home after it came on as I was going to town. I called next morning (monday) & he said next appointment was Friday & I told him that was ridiculous. Living out in the country, my only car, & only 12,000 miles on it - he got me in the same afternoon. He told me it was safe to drive it in. They reprogrammed the computer and sent me on my way. From the sounds of this forum, it sounds like I should trade as soon as possible, even though it only has a little over 12,000 miles. The mechanic told me that on the 2022 TB, they fixed this problem so that this problem doesn't happen. Evidently they know they have a problem with the 2021.

I had the same issue (engine power decreased) and it was the turbo! It happened to me 6months after having purchased my vehicle. It actually happened twice and was corrected. I am now experiencing the same issue again and car is no longer under warranty!! 🤬
Mine has been at the dealership for 10 days and probably going to be for about 2 more weeks as they are awaiting parts according to them. I love my TB, but if the Turbo fails this early (23k miles), I am afraid it is going to do it again in another 20K or so. I think I am going to trade mine before the warranty is up.
I should have traded mine before warranty was up and I am going on reduced engine power light coming on for the 3 time since I’ve had the vehicle and I’m at 60k miles!

They have a problem with the 2022’s as well!! Trade if u can! I wish I would have seen this forum the first time it happened!

Infuriating. The lemon law website is your on-line resource for information. Good luck.

I sure wish you had traded before your warranty ran out.. After I read so many having the same problem, I knew mine wasn't going to be an isolated case and was going to happen over and over again. I went ahead and traded it with less than 14,000 miles on it. I am too old to be worrying whether a New car is going to run or not, or having it sit in a shop waiting to be fixed.. I did like the Trailblazer and would buy another - but Not until they have it's issues fixed. I have never bought a new car before that had issues with very few miles on it. . .

Me too!!! I was told to bring it in on Friday and they will have a vehicle for me to use. I’m hoping I won’t have end up having to pay for loaner until they are done with my vehicle. I didnt even know about these types of forums!!! 🤬🤬🤬
