Reduced Engine Pwer

Hello,
I have a 2021 Chevy trailblazer. I have around 29,000 miles on my car. Recently I have had the Reduced Engine Power light along with the check engine light come across the dash. This has also limited my speed to 35 mph. I have had my car into 2 different Chevy dealerships and both are saying that the car is not throwing or storing any codes for them to know what is wrong with it. However the light will go off and they come back on in a matter of weeks. The dealerships have contacted GM for help with the matter but seem to be at loss what to do. I am at loss at what to do next. I was wondering if anyone else has ideas on what to do next.

This is a new one to me. I guess if it does it again, safely try to get it to a dealer while it is doing it.
This sounds like the Limp In Mode.. but doesnt that usually engage when it detects an issue with the tranny?

Nope I live in Missouri and all of this started happening in May . I have contacted Chevy and they are working to try to resolve the problem. I am day 16 without my car. They are saying that they need it throw the code again with the computer hooked to it ( because it does not store codes) to see what seems to be the problem and it is not throwing it again. But I am uncertain to drive the car because it never fails it throws something and goes into limp mode when I away from the dealership or after hours. Tech is driving to see if there is a problem. Chevy has suggested that they retrace me route when the reduced engine light last came on. I am extremely frustrated with the current situation.

Well that’s frustrating. I hope they help you out

So..if I understand you right.....you go Limp when you have an issue with a tranny?

Well 40 days later chevy finally got to bottom of the issue . It was a bad turbo. It took over two weeks to get the part in and a few days to get it installed. Now I seems back to normal . Thank goodness

only 29,000 miles...at least it was warranty. I wonder what it will cost if it goes out again after the warranty runs out
Maybe this will help someone. My TB started throwing the same error for Engine Power reduced. Took it to the dealership and they said it needed a new computer program, which they did. About 50 miles later, the EPR message came up again. Took it back to the dealership and they said they had a bulletin that said the Turbo Solenoid? needed to be changed. They did that and 27 miles later, the EPR message came up yet again. Took it back to the dealership today and they say a new bulletin says to replace the turbo and components associated with. Mine has 23K miles on it and I am hoping this is the permanent fix. Fingers crossed.

makes me wonder if GM performed any reliability or life testing on these? pretty sad when Gm replaces a premature failure with the SAME part destined to another failure

I realize this is a little over a month late, but I also have a 2021 trailblazer with about 29,000 miles that's doing the same thing. I have an appointment Friday at the dealership. Did anything ever come of your situation?

Mine has been at the dealership for 10 days and probably going to be for about 2 more weeks as they are awaiting parts according to them. I love my TB, but if the Turbo fails this early (23k miles), I am afraid it is going to do it again in another 20K or so. I think I am going to trade mine before the warranty is up.

Hi guys! I’m glad I’m not alone with this issue. I got my 2021 TB back from the dealership yesterday and the light went on again today. I have the engine power reduced message too, but the speed is not limited or anything like that. You can definitely feel that it’s less powerful tho. I called them and told them what you guys said here and I’m bringing it back to them tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Did they replace the entire turbo or just the wastegate solenoid....that's what they did to mine the first time.
They just replaced the vacuum pump and I told them about the turbo. Good to know about the solenoid, thanks!
To those who have had this issue, do you have the 1.2 L or 1.3 L engine?
Going on 3rd week parked at the dealership with parts expected on 08/01. Got a call yesterday that parts at minimum will be shipped on 08/17. So basically 6 weeks with no vehicle counting the other 2x it was in the dealership to begin with.
