First problem I've had with my Trailblazer. I noticed when I back up, my brakes squeal. Doesn't do it in drive, just when I'm backing up. Car only has about 3600 miles on it, no way they should be worn already. Anyone else having the same issue? Could this be related to the brake recall?

That is not related to the brake recall that is out there. If it does it all the time I would take it to the dealer, it should reproduce the sound for them and they will fix.

Mine does it every once in a while, but only in reverse. It's nothing I'm worried about, just tight brake pad clearances.

I would agree. You don't have many mile son it. Give it a little more miles, take to dealer if it is still happening. Mean time just turn up the radio. :)

Mine has been doing this for a few months now. I bought my 21 Trailblazer in October and I've since brought it in to be documented and there should be a Bulletin from GM about the issue but I just got off the phone with the dealership and there is still no recall which means they will not replace the break pads under warranty yet... super lame. Definitely bring it in and let the dealership document the problem, this will help later down the road when the recall does come out (& may help it come out quicker!!)

My LT did this every time I backed out of the garage for several months. I was told to ignore it as it got so loud neighbors knew when I left the house! I found another dealer who ordered new brake pads— mine was the front making the noise. He installed those two months ago— no more issues. He said, “no problem getting GM to approve the repair.”

At 18k miles my fron't started squeaking. They have stopped now. So who knows. They looked at them the TB was in for a oil change last week, no issues, not worn.

Update on mine. Replaced with ceramic pads from rockauto ceramic Dynamic Friction 1551230700. Have about 2500 miles now and replacing the stock front pads with these pads cured my squealing problem. Took less than 15 minutes for each side, just be careful when removing the pads so you don’t bend the clips.

Did you have to set the front calpers in service mode?
I did not. Figured when the parking brake is off, the piston is retracted. The piston was fully retracted with the park brake off, I just took the old squeaky semi metallic pads off and installed the new ceramic, then bolted the calipers back on. It was literally two 13mm bolt heads each side and then done. I wouldn’t have attempted to push the piston back in manually without using service mode, but here it’s not needed, at least for me.
