Paint chip issues??

So I have had my 2022 White RS for almost 10 months. I have several paint chips on the hood. No clue why because I don’t drive it much and I’m not following rock trucks or driving gravel. I’ve never had a vehicle chip so easily. And it’s just the hood too. The dealership gave me a paint pen but I really don’t want to be fixing chips all the time. I feel like there has to be something wrong with how it was painted. Anyone else??

I’ve had mine for about 3 weeks and I have 2 little chips on the hood. Lots of highway driving but no gravel roads. I bought chipfixx chipfix.ca to repair it but I want to find a hood defector. Seems to be hard to get. Any info on that would be appreciated. Thanks
I bought mine off of Amazon. Matte black hood deflector by Lund. Same thing the dealer sells as an accessory but $40cheaper.

I bought mine from AVS. Love, love it. Easy to install. Has held up well. From the time I ordered it, it arrived 3 days later.

This is probably the way to go unless you have Chevy points or can otherwise get a deal from the dealer.

I have had my white 2022 RS for a year and have had numerous chips. Far more than any other vehicle I have owned. I have bought a paint kit and attempted to fix them. I feel like something is wrong with the paint. I had ceramic coat put on it as soon as it was purchased.

A ceramic coating doesn't help prevent paint chips. It helps to protect the paint from UV damage and can help to prevent minor scratching and swirling. It's more utilized for it's hydrophobic properties, shine and self cleaning aspect.

If you want true paint protection you need something stronger than that, PPF or paint protection film (think clear bra).

To put this into perspective a ceramic coating is 1-2 microns thick. PPF is 200-300 microns thick.

Years ago GM and other manufacturers switched to water based paint per EPA regulations and the adhesion properties are lacking.

I do paint correction as a hobby and automotive repair/restoration has always interested me. I knew the paint would suck on my TB so I had PPF installed on the front clip for around $1k. Totally worth it in my opinion. PPF lasts year's and if garaged and taken care of possibly the life of the car. I have 20k on my 21 TB and there's 2 small chips. That's how amazing PPF is.

my 2021 has rock chips also. I have to wonder if maybe just the the way the TB sits, aero dynamics is diff and is causing this more then an avg car???

Do the deflectors help in preventing chips? Do they deflect small rocks over windshield? Owned my TB 6 months, have 3 chips in hood down to metal, 2 big chips and a dozen minor chips in windshield. My car never had this many.
Mainly to just what is covered by the deflector, past that you can still get rocks hitting other areas unfortunately...its just part of everyday driving now a days and water based paint. I put mine on after already having a nice ding from a rock which it was cheaper to add this which it covered / hide the area nicely then have the hood repainted.
Multi chips in WIndshield? Pushed 47k miles with non of that but many in the paint though.
Just ordered little paint pen for Nitro Yellow color. Guess what? Yes, $48 dollars for pen. OMG!
Seems any paint product these days are out of sight .
