I think I know the answer, but I'll ask anyway just in case I missed something. One of my fears is one night I'll forget to check to see if I left a back window open and be unfortunate enough to have a rain storm over night. It would be nice if there was an alert you could set that would chime when you shut the engine with an open window, like it does when it senses you may have left an item or child in the rear. I couldn't find anything in the owners manual that addressed this but it's possible I missed it, so I thought I'd ask. I typically always check, but I know one day I'll be distracted and forget and with my luck we will have a typhoon that night! LOL. Thanks!
PS....My previous vehicle had such an alert and it came in handy.

It only alerts you to check the back seat if you have put something in the back seat.
There is no sensor for the rear seat. Rear seat reminder is just a setting that can be turned on or off. It's useful for people with babies or kids in car seats or family pets so they don't forget them in the back seat.

But it only alerts you if one of the rear doors was opened prior to or during the drive session. If you unlock, enter, start, and drive away without opening a rear door, the rear seat alert will not trigger.

yes, I know. I believe it becomes active when you open a rear
passenger door, it assumes you put something in the back.

Correct, I was just pointing out that there is no motion or weight sensor in the back seat which some vehicles do have.

Sometimes you just have to operate the vehicle using your head.
