Hey gang I have 2022 TB LT this came with the 1.2 engine and cvt transmission. My manual says change the oil every 3000 miles but I see a lot of different recommendations some people are going every 5000 miles and some 7000 or 7500. Dealership recommends every 5000 miles does the 1.2 engine require shorter intervals than the 1.3 very curious on all the different recommendations? Thanks Joe

Yea, I saw a news story on it a few years back, GM was confident that you could use their gage as an end all on your oil life. I believe it factors in how your driving and other things as well. It’s not just a gauge that ticks down as time passes.

You didn't mention if you use synthetic or "regular". My dealer says every 5000 is plenty (synthetic). Also it is not just a go by the miles kind of thing. Your type of driving matters. Mostly city driving and/or frequent starting and stopping the engine you ought to change oil a little more frequently around the 3000 mark. Also it also matters how many months. Oil degrades over time. That is why your owners manual will say for example 3000 miles or every 3 or 4 months for example.

Agreed that you can use the OLM as a good guide to change your oil....However.....I have a 2021 LT1 Camaro that sits parked from November 1st to April 1st, and once a month or so I would start it up over the winter....And the OLM consistently went down, and the car never moved. I think it was at like 45% in November and was at 8% when I changed the oil in April. So time in itself definitely has something to do with it. Now it may not be that way on all GM cars, but I suspect they use similar algorithms.
