Hi guys, new to Trailblazer but not to Chevy. Just purchased a new 2024 Trailblazer RS FWD in Sterling Gray Metallic and have enjoyed it up until today. We were on a short trip (75 mi) to visit my daughter when out of the blue, everything on the DIC and Infotainment screen went black, along with satellite radio and OnStar but did have FM radio but was unable to get anything to work on DIC and touch screen. All DIC and touch screen were blank.

Stayed black for roughly 10 seconds and came back on. 5 or so min later, did the same thing again, over and over for about 6-10 times. I stopped the car and turned off the engine, opened the door and let the vehicle set for about 10 mins and restarted. Everything came back to normal for a few miles until it decided to do it again. Anyone have this same issue happen? I already have an appt. scheduled at the dealer.

So my service manager said bring that car in right away I brought it in the next morning I explained the problem to the advisor and I told him Jeff the service manager knew I was bringing the vehicle in that he needed to escalate it right away rather than do that the advisor drove it around for 2 weeks texted me and said he can't find a problem I said well I can't take the car back it's got a problem so low and behold the service manager jumps on it hasn't fixed in an hour after he put it on a tech scan it was a ground wire incorrectly installed in South Korea at the assembly plant you know how many headaches that cause my family and then to top it off we got the car back two weeks later and there were cigarette ashes and it smelled so gross of smoke I couldn't stand it. So anybody that owns a 2024 Trailblazer Rally Sport you might want to be careful because it doesn't show any faults or anything it just happens and if you're at a light or if you're at a icy road or a snowstorm you're in the dark buddy for at least 10 minutes

Hmm. Well it did happen to me, but only once shortly after I started the car. Infotainment went black and then came back after a few seconds. I had a scheduled trip to chevy for regular oil change and to update the software to turn on the heated steering wheel and I haven't seen it since. I thought the software updated took care of it but nothing was mentioned. I'm assuming you are using Bluetooth and Android Auto or Apple Car Play?

Finally was able to get our TB in to the dealer after both my wife and I battled covid for 3 weeks😞. No codes, current software installed already. They said to bring it back if the issue happened again🤬. Sadly we took a 500 mile trip recently and we captured 8 videos of it going wonky during the entire trip. Time for Chevy to start replacing things until a fix happens.
I am curious though if those of you who have had this issue happen, if you were using Apple Carplay with which brand phone. Also if you were connected wirelessly or wired.

In my household we have a 25 Trax RS2 and a 24 Trailblazer LT AWD. Both seems to have the same identical infotainment systems, the screens are identical. My wife has a Samsung Note S24 Ultra, not a single issue, my daughter has an iPhone and now having random issues with the infotainment and is her second new Trax (24 & 25).

I am thinking the system has a compatibility issue with the iPhone. My daughter is an Apple Fangirl, she claims that is GM's fault and not Apple's; I told her to trade the Trax for an Apple "Cart," she got pissed :ROFLMAO:

Also, a co-worker has Kias in thr household, she used an Samsung Note S23 Ultra, her Kia Santa Fe runs fine, however, her mom with Apple is having glitches on her Kia.

i find interesting the Samsung are Korean phones and Apple "Chinese." The Trax and TB are Korean made...:unsure::unsure:

Good, I am glad someone with an iPhone has no problems.

Next will be...

Do you use Spotify? Do you stream audio via Blutooth?

I have a suspicion, my wife does not stream anything, my daughter, as a late teen, she streams constantly.

My suspicion is the application Spotify might have some "issues" with the infotainment because not only stream audio, streams an interface (video) for the touchscreen (send & receive commands).

2023 Trailblazer RS, and we're using only Apple iPhones, 3 of them, using bluetooth, using carplay almost exclusively. Spotify 95% of the time, but youtube, maps, siri, everything just works. Everything works fine, other than the occasional random handoff to another device if they're both in the car and someone opens spotify while I'm already playing from mine. :) Is the iphone running the current OS? I just noticed the Spotify specific comment... that all works fine. shows the song playing, your queues, shuffle, etc... everything works as it does in every other car with CarPlay.

Thanks for the input.

My wife read somewhere about two different boxes, one that is Korean made the other US made. The one that is made in the US seems to be working fine; however, I do not have a part number on the part, nor first hand experience on the matter.

Forgot to mention...
My daughter knows someone from her college that owns a GMC Sierra, I think she said 23 or 24, the owner is reporting the same issues.

Some tells me that some of this infotainment boxes have some incompatibility issues. Perhaps someone need to start tracking Part Number and Batch/Lot Numbers to pin-point which ones have problems.

Come on GM, this research is on your court ;)

You probably need a new battery. When they start to fail, the shut down and no start condition is one of the 1st signs of a battery failure or just a low battery which could also indicate a charging issue.

2024 Trailblazer RS here 6000 miles on it & I’ve taken it in already for squeaky brakes & today it shut off on me at a stop sign. Took it in & they said the brakes are going to stay like there because there is no solution and they replaced the battery saying “it’s guaranteed the battery was the one causing the issues”. I drove out of the lot & my engine light turned on. I’m taking it to another dealership to see if they can service it better. Also within the first week of having the vehicle the entire screen (including speedometer) shut off while I was driving so I had no idea how fast I was going at some points. So disappointed at this time that there seems to be no solution for anything

Interesting problems. My 2024 Trailblazer RS just passed 5000 miles and I took it in for the first/free servicing that came with it when I bought it. Only used about 1-quart of oil during "break in"period. Other than 1-tire getting below 32lbs 4-times in 4-months (they checked and couldn't find any punctures/leaks) and a couple of weird incidents with the brake pedal feeling stuck/not able to depress to start the engine (again couldn't find anything wrong and it will be a hard thing to catch/diagnose), it has been relatively trouble free and I am very happy with it!

An interesting side-note to add to the "2024 Trailblazer RS Issue" discussion. I posted elsewhere here about the issue of Oil Consumption in newer engines and that the Chevrolet dealer service manager said (and showed me a document) that 1-quart/2000 miles was considered "acceptable". When I just went back to the dealer to pick up my TB, I mentioned to the service person that I had to put in about 1-quart since it got to the bottom of the dipstick/hashmarks. I guess he didn't get the memo about "acceptable oil consumption" since he said he thought it was odd/wrong that a new vehicle should use any oil at all!

If you "google it", there are quite a few cars/manufacturers, not just Chevrolet/GM, where even 1-quart/700-900 miles is "normal". But I agree with you and I don't like it, either. My Scion with 214K which had a known engine factory defect, would consume 1-2 quarts after the oil got "dirty" and had over 3000 miles of usage!

Another interesting side note about my dealership visit. Eventhough the book says the oil change interval is 7500 miles and the "you need to change your oil soon" gauges are set to 7500 miles, the "next oil change" sticker the dealer put on my windshield (you would think these are redundant since the computers nag/alert/warn you when it is time to service the vehicle), was at +5000/10000 miles

My father started teaching me about cars back in the sixties. His started buying and building cars in the early thirties. One thing he hammered on constantly was that 1 quart of oil in 700 or 800 miles was NEVER acceptable, even in a new car. He told me that the first car he ever had that used that much oil was a new 1964 Studebaker. It took a ring job to cure that car. Car makers are telling us this lie because they are being forced to get more and more MPG from engines, even if it means using a lot more oil, or having engines that fail at 100K miles or less.

I understand where you're coming from but back then they weren't using 0W20 oil or synthetics of any kind.

It's not just GM/Chevrolet. Read this:

Oil Consumption: It May Be a Normal Characteristic
Some Chrysler applications reflect the following oil consumption rates:
  • One quart per 2,000 miles for the first 50K miles.
  • Engines over 50K miles…one quart per 750 miles.
  • One quart per 500 miles during aggressive driving or heavily loaded conditions.
Some imports reflect one quart of oil every 750 miles as being an acceptable oil consumption rate.

and this:

5 Things to Know About Oil Changes for Your Car
Our mechanics recommend checking at least once a month or ideally every other gas fill-up. Don’t assume that a new car is exempt from this maintenance chore. Consumer Reports reliability survey results have shown that even newer cars can need the oil to be topped off between changes.

Almost 50,000 miles on my 2023 Trailblazer. I am a high mileage driver. No problems whatsoever with this vehicle. No excess oil consumption.
My only comment would be that the oil life indicator is not 100% accurate. I can read oil like a book, and several times when the oil life indicator said I had 35% or more oil life left, I could tell that the oil was worn out.
But that is my only complaint. I am getting fantastic gas mileage, it is comfortable and very easy to park, and it has enough room for me to carry whatever I need. The way I look at it, for less than $30K, if I get 5 good years on it with no major repairs, I am fine.
My wife has a Mercedes that we bought for 3X the price of my Trail and the Mercedes uses expensive premium gas and its routine maintenance issues cost an arm and a leg. We both agree that the Trail is a better vehicle, for 1/3 the price!!!!!

My 2024 Chevrolet TrailBlazer Rally Sport when you hit the brakes it totally went dead everything no flash or nothing my daughter was in a red light at night she almost got rear-ended it ended up being ground wire that was incorrectly installed at the assembly plant in South Korea you know how much headaches that caused our family it did it four times took them 2 weeks and the only reason why they finally found the problem is because the advisor told me it was ready to go it wouldn't repeat the problem I said no it's not ready to go cuz I'm not taking the car back till you find the problem he then escalated it to the service manager which he was supposed to do when I brought it in service manager had it fixed in an hour after you hooked a tech scan on it..

Very interesting. While I haven't had any failures on my 2024 RS with 6,000 mi, I have had a few instances where the brake pedal would not depress for me to be able to start it. I had to tap it a couple of times before it went down. I've had about eight instances of this in the 5 months I've owned it. I took it in for the first free servicing and mentioned this issue to the service person. As expected, they could not reproduce it/NTF.
