Hey everyone,

Just got my 21 Trailblazer LT AWD with a blackout package yesterday and I’m in shock. I’m going from a beat up 08’ Nissan Rogue to this.. The thing is hot.. We didn’t even have A/C for the longest time and now I’m freezing my ass off while I scroll through my phone.. on my cars dashboard. Pinch me I’m dreaming.

I’m so happy there’s a community like this with other people who also have trailblazers. I’d love to hear some tips on what I can do to maintain this thing.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new Trailblazer. As far as maintenance goes, keep up on oil change as turbo engine run hot and break down the oil faster. I would get the first oil change around 3000 miles instead of the recommended 7500 and after that change the oil when the oil life monitor gets to 15%. Make sure you check your tire pressure as all Trailblazers are shipped from S Korea with 45-50 psi which is way too high, should be 35 psi. I run mine around 38 psi.

Thank you! I didn’t even think about tire pressure I’ve been so busy looking at everything else lol. I’ll have to check that soon.
What’s the consensus on the 3 cylinder engine? It seems to do the trick. But I see a lot of people bashing it. Seems to me like the people who actually drive the car are never the ones bashing it and that it’s probably Ford fanboys or something.

You’re not wrong. I haven’t seen another TB on the road. Kind of like it that way.

The 3cyl turbo has about the same power as a naturally aspirated 4cyl, maybe more. It definitely has more power than a Toyota Corolla or Chevy Cruze, I've owned both. I'm not sure why some reviews say it's underpowered, that hasn't been my experience and it even does great going up/down the Sierra Mountains near me.

It seems the ones that say the TB 3 cyc is junk have not driven it. They seem to just assume it is under powered. If you want to pull a boat, sure it is but then again it is not made for that. I went through the mountains in NC and it did just fine. Sure the little motor may be a little noisy but I found it just fine in the hills and still pull an avg MPG on the trip of close to 34 mpg.

I had a tuned Chevy Sonic with upgraded intercooler, downpipe, and full cold side piping upgrade (from 2" to 2.5"). This car pulls almost as hard as that did. It's just geared/tuned for low end power to get you around town easily. If it was geared/tuned for power this engine would easily make 180-200 hp.

I second the tire pressure check. Went for a four day trip and checked the tire pressure before we left and mine was at 42.

Jesus Christ. I just checked the email OnStar sent me and it says my tires are at 45-46…

Same here, might be because of how hot it is in Louisiana, but mine were 48-49 psi.

This is exactly the pressure our RS tires had when we brought it home.

I actually get better gas mileage after reducing the pressure to 38. Weird, usually higher pressure gets better mileage.
