I installed the new K&N engine filter today for the 1.2T and 1.3T engines, part number 33-5107. It's very easy to swap out the factory filter for the K&N, but I decided to do a write up for anyone else who wants to install one.
Remove the air intake duct going to the air filter box. There are 2 squeeze tabs at the front by the radiator and 2 tabs where the duct connects to the air box. You also need to remove the 2 push pins that hold the air duct to the radiator support. To remove the push pins you need to gently pull up the heads to release them.
Once you have the air duct removed you need to remove the lid to the air filter box. Loosen the hose clamp going into the air filter box by using a 7mm socket or flat blade screwdriver. Loosen the 4 phillips head screws using a P1 or P2 screwdriver. You don't need to remove the screws, just loosen them enough to remove the lid. You don't need to unplug the MAF sensor harness, just remove the lid and just set it on the engine. Now you can remove the factory filter.
If you want to clean out the lower half of the air box it's easily removed by just pulling it straight up. It's only held in place by 3 rubber grommets. It's also a good idea to clean out any debris that might clog the drain on the bottom which is just a rubber nipple.
