Getting blown around on the highway.

Maybe it’s just me, but every time I take my TB out on the highway I’m amazed at how willing it is to just comply with drifting off course from the wind.

It’s gotten to the point where I just have to throw sport mode on to stiffen up the steering to resist a lot of it or else the car is just exhausting to try and wrestle with to keep it going straight. Comparatively to every other car I’ve owned (save for a Chevy Cruze that was by far the lightest thing I’ve driven) I’ve never been blown around so much as I do in the TB.

Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience or if I need to look at adjusting something.

I think it has something to do with the alignment settings from the factory. Our Trailblazer isn't as bad as what your describing, but it could be better. I suspect it is the toe setting, either too much toe in or toe out. Either one can cause wandering or a strange over center feeling. I also turn sport mode on every time I drive because I like the steering and shifting better. It's also a good idea to check your tire pressure as the problem will become more pronounced as the tires pressure goes higher. I run mine at 38psi (cold). You could always ask the dealership to check your alignment to make sure it's within spec.
I can’t say I notice it that much. Occasionally, when winds are higher. Maybe you are just driving faster with this vehicle, because of the turbo power😄

Think I’ll try bleeding the tires a bit. The dealership keeps inflating them up to 42psi (cold), might try bringing that back down closer to Chevy’s official spec.

I just brought mine down yesterday. The dealership had mine at 45psi 🤦‍♂️
They come 45psi from the factory to avoid flat spots in transit. Most dealerships never adjust the psi because they don't know how long the vehicle will sit and it will wear the tires down faster and for the dumb dumbs that buy their tires at the dealership it's a massive add-on ticket item for them. I suspect what ZR2LIFE alluded too earlier with the alignment specs may be an issue. I've noticed it with mine in high winds but I've driven far worse try an empty box truck on the highway in high winds or the 900s from FedEx and UPS and you'll be on my level of wtf is this shit.
I noticed in the app the day I picked mine up they were at 45psi, but the dealer had lowered down to 35 when I actually picked it up later in the day.
Speaking of wind.............

Do you drive yours on the Chicago expressways at all? If so, how does it handle? Can you keep up with the crazy drivers who think that are in the Indy 500?

I'm concerned about the road noise and trying to figure out this 3 cylinder thing! I do A LOT of highway driving and love everything else but not sure how it will handle on expressways! I'm trying to decide tomorrow to finalize the purchase of the 2021 TB and I'm in the Chicago suburbs.. so I wanted to ask you..

I don’t do a ton of highway driving but when I do it’s on 94, 294 and 57. Having it in sport mode is generally fine, it’s just the steering in normal mode is really numb and loose so it’s super compliant to turning with minimal force (good for around town, just not when you are going 80 down the highway).road noise is average, but if yougo for the AWD model it apparently has noise cancellation and extra dampening. Either way it’s not what I would describe as loud.

Okay, thanks!! It’s hard to find an AWD!
I’ve driven a lot on the highways at speeds 65 -70 mph and have had no problems with wind problems. It’s been very stable on the highway very easy to drive and controllable. Nothing any different than any other vehicle that I’ve ever had.

Oh I know, I wanted one w/ AWD originally but test drove the CVT with the 1.3 and was happy enough with it…still no complaints…got me through our blizzard this past winter no problems. Not entirely sure if the AWD is worth the price bump tbh, and the CVT drives really nicely. I went into the rest drive wanting to hate it and just couldn’t. Still can’t say anything negative about it to this day…it’s a surprisingly damn good transmission.

General update: brought my tires down to 36 and it’s way better. Moral of the story: make sure the dealership doesn’t inflate your tires to near max PSI -_-
I live in one of the most Windy parts of Wyoming and I haven’t had much problem with being thrown around. There are times where the wind will push me a little bit but overall it isn’t bad.

e have done a lot of HWY driving in our ACTIV, can't I have felt more wind issues than other cars. I don't use sport mode either.
