Is there a way to defeat the auto stop feature? I don't want to push the button EVERY time I start the vehicle....(wish sport mode would default as well).

There's a bypass that you can purchase and probably install yourself ... but it will in all likelihood void your warranty. There's are a few threads on it here.
As far as I know nobody makes a bypass harness for the Trailblazer. Somebody would need to volunteer their vehicle for testing purposes before any manufacturer will release one for us.

If this were an issue for me I'd try the GM harness that AutostopEliminator sells. I'm afraid it will void my warranty and I have very low miles on mine. Remember no one supports replacing our halogens either, and some of us have successfully upgraded to LED's based on a few brave souls here. :)
It is a pain but at this point I am used to that being the first thing I hit when I start the TB. Just make it a habit to hit,

No harness yet for the TB. Still waiting on a volunteer in West Virginia.
