Anyone familiar with this product ? Chevy Performance Chips - Performance Chip & Car Tuner - Chip Your Car interestingly enough it lists our 3 cy motor for our model. My past history is from the v8 world using HP Tuners never heard of these folks. And yes I know our Trailblazers are not race cars...LOL...just curious if we can get a little more out of them and if this is a worthy company...thx.

They don't work, computer is locked & encrypted to prevent tuning. I remember someone saying Trifecta was looking into it, but never heard about it again.

Figures...LOL...thx for the follow-up.
No problem.

Most of those supposed chips that claim hp/tq increase are just piggybacking onto the locked factory system and alter the signals going to the computer which in turn tricks the computer into thinking it needs more fuel, timing which could create a little more power, but at the expense of voiding your warranty and possible engine damage.

Tuning is the only safe way to get more power, so until someone unlocks the computer for tuning all you can really do is improve airflow going in/out. The drop in K&N helps a little, but from my experimenting I found the biggest gains to be had were through exhaust modifications that allow higher flow. The factory exhaust is very restrictive and typically turbo engines don't like or need backpressure, but GM decided that a quiet exhaust was more important, nothing new with them, lol.

I don't think I would spend money on performance chips... I doubt there would be much noticeable gain... it is a 3 cylinder engine and I there is not probably enough performance to pull out of it for the cost of a chip or even a cold air system to make it worth spending the money on. These tiny engines perform surprising well as they are, but never is going to be a hot rod.

Tuning these little things really isn't worth it. Unless you have the AWD then maybe. The CVT transmissions are not meant for high torque. Tuning for more HP/ Tq is only going to cost you more to replace your transmission sooner than expected.
