Car Jerks when Disengaging Parking Brake

981 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Aki
Hello! I have a 2022 RS AWD (1.3/9spd). I’ve noticed that whenever the vehicle is parked for a while or overnight, when I go in and disengage the parking brake, the car jerks significantly forward (when I take my foot off the brake) before smoothly rolling forward. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks in advance for any tips!

This seems to be a somewhat common "issue" and you should be able to find other posts on here discussing it. The consensus seems to be to wait until the RPMs "calm down" a bit after starting. This usually only takes a few seconds and should avoid the unexpected jerk when putting the vehicle in gear or taking off the parking brake. I think I recall that others who have spoken to their dealers were essentially told it's not a problem.

Hey thanks a lot for your reply! I had taken a look (albeit briefly) and hadn’t found it. But it gave me a chance to join this great community all the same. I’ll try waiting a bit and seeing what happens. Thanks again.
