Hi guys, stupid question here ... I was wondering why is there a need to use an antifreeze coolant (as recommended) , yet residing in a tropical country (temperature ranges from 86 to 104 F)
Also depends on the water pump. Some of the older water pumps benefited from coolant lubrication because the bearings were not sealed. Most newer water pumps have sealed bearings so they don't need lubricant. We have an electric water pump which is completely different than a belt driven mechanical pump, however lubrication might be even more important in this type of pump.I believe it also works as a lubricant for the internal moving parts of the cooling system. especially the water pump.
