It happened to me as well. Service power steering drive with care/ service ESC. Mileage between 8300-8400. This concerns me. My car had 21 miles at purchase. I'm waiting to hear from the dealership as to what they've detected.

I just dropped mine off Monday due to this issue they told me it might need a whole new steering column. I am wondering if anyone else has had their steering column done due to this message?

I've heard of a few who got new steering columns, but I wonder if there was actually anything wrong with them. More than 95% of the time it's just a software glitch that causes communication errors between the steering module and the computer. Seeing how GM pays the dealerships to do warranty work it makes me wonder if they are unnecessarily replacing perfectly good steering columns just to make it more worthwhile (more money).

If they do replace it, ask them for a cause of failure or to show you what broke or failed. If it is real problem GM should have released a TSB for it by now. You can search through TSB's on the NHTSA website.

My thoughts EXACTLY! Some of them dealerships are scammers! Hard to believe that 90%+ just say it's a software issue, and others say they need to replace columns. Makes you wonder if they even do replace them....

Apparently, this is an issue that is still ongoing. I've had my 2023 RS for less than 2 weeks now (only 2 miles at purchase and 218 miles at the time of the service warning). On my 6th day of owning it, the exact same message came up. Contacted my salesman and he got me in immediately. Less than an hour later the service manager came and told me I was good to go, that it just needed a software update, which they did.

Happened to my Trailblazer today in the morning before I left for work at 6am. Trailblazer only has 7088 miles, service power steering esc message came up. Steering wheel was stiff and I also noticed a wierd noise from the front of the car. Not sure if power steering pump or what. Didn't drive it to work. But got home and checked it again at 7pm and everything was working fine.
Hopefully when I take it to the dealership and they scan it the code is saved and they figure out what is wrong.
